Purusha Yoga, San Francisco, CA

"I enjoyed Purusha Yoga for many reasons. The small community feel, the flexibility, the openness to input from one another, the broadness of in-depth knowledge from Joy, she really has a good knowledge of anatomy, philosophy, chanting, asana and the list goes on!
Purusha has a lot to offer the inquiring yogi or yogini."

"Purusha Yoga first attracted me in Golden Gate Park because Joy and Adnan are so warm and welcoming, and knowledgeable. After becoming a "regular" at yoga in the park, I decided to do my 200 hour yoga teacher traning and Yoga Therapy training with them because they really embody every aspect of yoga--from the mat to the world, they are spreading light and love and introducing yoga to new people everyday. Their living example has encouraged and inspired me in my own practice, both professionally, and personally. I feel blessed to have trained and studied with Purusha Yoga and to have Joy and Adnan as mentors, and now as friends."

"I was initially drawn to Purusha because it offered a 'holistic' yoga teacher training, allowing me to move far beyond the physical asanas into a deeper understanding of the yogic way of life. I got just that. Joy & Adnan have limitless enthusiasm and energy that infuses every part of the training with fun, play, and an invitation to explore. The training is small, intimate, and personalized. All said and done, completing my Purusha Yoga Teacher Training is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done."

"I was drawn to the Purusha Yoga Teacher Training because of the comprehensive holistic training model integrating Eastern and Western theory and practice.  I enrolled in the Purusha Yoga Teaching Training because I wanted to travel further down the path of recognizing and living from my truth in the world.  I practice and teach Purusha Yoga because it continues to provide me with a firm holistic foundation on which to branch forth and blossom into my truth. This and this I carry with me in all aspects of my life. "

Explore, discover, and express your inner truth. Empower yourself and your community through the classical practices of Yoga.

The Purusha Yoga Teacher Training is about more than just teaching yoga. Many choose this path to experience and explore the many facets of Yoga in a deeper and more meaningful way. The Tree of Classic Yoga is vast and beautiful, encompassing a holistic network of branches that invite each student to explore inwardly and discover the world’s truths. These truths have been rediscovered for generations. Within each of us, there is a vast knowledge. Every truth we realize in our own hearts will be the only real treasure we have to give others.

The Purusha Yoga School values each individual's journey toward finding his/her own Purusha (true self).

The Purusha Yoga Teacher Training is dedicated to training individuals who are interested and passionate about learning the complete 8 limb system of Raja Yoga as well as classic Hatha Yoga. The school’s philosophy is to provide a vehicle in which graduates may provide these teachings to under served and at risk populations who may not otherwise be exposed to Yogic Practices and Philosophy.

The Purusha Yoga School’s curriculum is comprehensive and holistic.

We offer each student the means to explore their own lifestyle and choices and adopt a personal practice that best accommodates their specific needs and desires. By this approach it is the mission of the school to then inspire a very authentic experience to each student thereby giving them a foundation of real life circumstances to teach their students.

The Purusha School is part of the International Association of Yoga Therapists Council of Schools and is registered with the National Yoga Alliance. The Purusha School provides scholarships and reduced fees to a portion of its students. The Purusha School has been recognized by the Federal Work Act and is part of a ‘back to work’ plan that is sponsored by the US Government and serves economically challenged people.

The Purusha Yoga School is a path to meaningful work extending beyond a job or a career and leads towards fulfilling your calling.

The Purusha School is affiliated with the Purusha Seva Project, a non profit organization that provides life skills, yoga, health and expressive arts to under served and at risk populations. Many of our graduates go on to teach with this organization. We believe in offering a great deal of personal growth opportunity as well as professional and business skills in our trainings.
